Precision feeding in pigs. Science and technology advances for a more sustainable production

The European pig sector is facing challenges linked to sustainability, climate change, animal welfare, and market volatility. Building resilience in pig production systems is essential to ensure food security, reduce environmental impacts, and support farmers livelihoods.

Feed is one of the main costs in pig production and has a significant impact on both production efficiency and environmental performance. This webinar will explore the main concepts and recent advances in pig precision feeding, from technologies that monitor individual feed intake and animal growth to the dynamic diet formulation adapted to the needs of individual animals or groups. Research and practical experiences both on growing pigs and on sows will be presented and their impact on economic, social and environmental sustainability will be discussed.
